TAPHALAW and ShareLaw Joint Legal Seminar: “Legal Service Contracts of Law Firms – Key Considerations”

In fulfillment of the 2020 work plan of Ta Pha Law Firm, as approved by the Director in Decision No. 01/QĐ-TPL dated January 15, 2020, and pursuant to the discussions and agreements between TAPHALAW and ShareLaw on February 20, 2020, a legal seminar on the topic of “Legal Service Contracts of Law Firms – Key Considerations” was held on February 22, 2020, at the headquarters of Ta Pha Law Firm Limited Liability Company.

The seminar was attended by Attorney Vo Dan Mach, Director of TAPHALAW; Attorney Le Van Dung, Director of ShareLaw, and over 20 staff members/interns from both firms.

Under the guidance of Attorneys Vo Dan Mach and Le Van Dung, participants discussed practical issues and scenarios arising from the execution and performance of legal service contracts. The discussions focused on the following four key issues:

  1. How is a legal service contract understood in practice? What types of contracts are commonly encountered in law firms?
  2. What laws govern service contracts and legal service contracts? How should conflicting provisions in various legal instruments be addressed when governing service contracts and legal service contracts? Discussion with a focus on legal service contracts.
  3. What risks can service providers face in legal service contracts?
  4. What measures can be taken to mitigate risks for service providers (law firms)? Based on the discussions, suggestions were made for improving the legal service contracts of both Taphalaw and ShareLaw.

This is a regular monthly program organized by TAPHALAW. The primary objective of this inaugural discussion is to create a platform for all employees and interns to engage with practical issues. The program aims to enhance professional expertise (theoretical and legal knowledge of service contracts in general and legal service contracts in particular), improve and enhance essential skills in the legal profession (research skills, solution-proposing skills, problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, etc.). Ultimately, the goal is to improve professional competence and skills, leading to higher quality and more effective work outcomes.

With the collaboration of ShareLaw, TAPHALAW hopes to create a professional, dynamic, and innovative legal environment. This initiative aims to provide a solid foundation for all employees, especially young professionals (recent graduates with limited practical experience), to grow, mature, and gain valuable insights and experiences. This will enable them to achieve early success in their legal careers and personal lives.
